Audit Syariah

Tiffy Tiffeny Edmund 62288211087 Audit 1 Audit Syariah Definition Audit is a process to investigate and verify an account, while Syariah is the rule of Islam (Hukum Islam). Therefore, Audit Syariah is the process to analyse, check, investigate and to make sure the operation and the management of Islamic Financial Institution (IFI) is accordance to the principal and the Syariah’s guidelines, mainly for the production of a product.Syarikah al-Rajhi al-Masrafiyyah LiL Istismar has define the Audit Syariah as â€Å"parties to determine the extent of Syariah compliant IFI based on decision made by the Syariah Advisory Council (SAC)† Objectives * Is there any specific mechanism to ensure the implement decision of SAC based on the Muamalat Islam? * How the implement of contracts, requirements, and operation being monitored by the IFI? The importance of Syariah compliance is to mitigate the operational risk of IFI and to strengthen the internal control of Islamic Banking system .Operation risks arise out because of failure in internal controls relating to processed, people, systems, or external event. The syariah non-compliance significant with this risk, which may result in voiding of contracts, loss of income, withdrawals, diminishes reputation and reduction in business. So, key challenge in managing operational risk in Islamic banking is by ensuring syariah compliance. Therefore, it is important to have syariah auditor to control activities according the Islamic rules which permissible and compliance with the principles of syariah About audit syariahThe different between statutorily IFI of different countries against actual scope and scale of what constitutes syariah audit might be bias towards the actual nature and scope of syariah audit. Auditor that practices the syariah system should be understood as a model that those countries adopt probably due to certain constraint within their financial system or infrastructure. Primary scope of syariah audit i s the audit of financial statement of the IFI.The audit will design to review the financial statement are drawn up according to the prevailing financial reporting disclosure standard of the country and wether the financial entries truly and accurately reflects the right and obligation arising from the various syariah contracts that the IFI enters into. If the requirement of IFIs in that country is to adopt the Accounting and Auditing Organization of Islamic Financial Institution (AAOIFI) standards then adherence to AAOIFI standards would be construed as the syariah compliant yardstick. The next area of a scope is the operational aspects of the IFI. This largely depends on the type of business the IFI is involved in and the key business activities undertaken by the IFI. This will involve an examination of the policies and procedures of the IFI on the key business activities, product manuals, operational process, contracts and agreements of products, memorandum and articles of associat ion of the organization and observation of reports issued by the management or syariah supervisor board and internal review unit.Third scope is the organizational structure and the people involved in executing key activities of each business area of the IFI. Audit on this scope will ensure that the organization structure is feasible to undertake the syariah compliant business activities and those they are qualified personnel in the area of ? fiqh al-muamalat to support the operations of the IFI. Islamic commercial jurisprudence or the rules of transacting in Islamic lawFinally, the scope should also cover the IT application systems that are in place to support the key business activities of the IFI. An audit into this area would look into whether the functionalities and features of the application system are sufficient and adequate to support an Islamic Banking Business by the IFI. Few things should be emphasized by auditor is avoiding every sinful activities such as the elements of riba, channeling received funds in a sinful way, and transactions that pay interest to depositor or investment in interest bearing stocks. The Syariah Advisory Council of Malaysia security commission (SAC) had resolved that riba is one of the main criteria causing the security of listed company to be excluded from SAC approved list. Islamic Instrument Study Group (IISG) at its fifth meeting on 23th August 1995 resolves that securities of a company whose operations and main activities are based on riba are not halal. Second thing is risk sharing. Islamic finance requires each party to a transaction to share the risks and rewards in an equitable manner.Islamic finance also doesn’t allow and forbid exploitation regarding right, liability and organization of the transaction leaving no room for ambiguities. Islamic law in finance is quite flexible where it allows the undertaking of any form of contractual relationship as long they avoid the clearly stated the prohibitions in the q uran and sunah. To ensure the audit progress runs smoothly, auditor must understand every decision maked by SAC. Auditor can ask the secretariat for help or by referring the manual of syariah, syariah checklist, syariah audit report from previous year, and so on.

Utilization of Plastic Waste Production of Hollow Blocks and Bricks

The objective of this IP is to prove that plastics can be recycled into reusable hollow blocks/bricks and help the environment by lessening plastic waste. In this experiment, plastics were cut into small pieces to use them in bricks/hollow blocks. The objective of this project is to help prevent water pollution that causes flood, by collecting and using plastic wrappers in making hollow blocks and bricks. Plastic materials are commonly used in or daily lives. Plastic bags, wrappers, and other related products were introduced to substitute paper products. But now different problem arise because of the use of these materials. Land and water pollution are most common. Those plastic materials are improperly dumbed cause flood because plastic waste takes years to decompose. So one way to lessen those problems is to utilize those plastic waste products, instead of dumping them, and make them reusable. In this experiment we will demonstrate how plastic waste can be used in making hollow bloc ks and bricks. The product can only be used as decorative block and is not intended for building houses and the likes. Every day, we throw away large quantities of polymer in the form of plastic bottles, cartons, and yogurt pots. Experts estimate that 25 percent of polymer waste is unsuitable for recycling for three main reasons; it is economically unprofitable; and it is too dirty. Now, researchers from the Latvian Technological Center and the Institute of Polymer Mechanics at the University of Latvia have come up with a solution. Working with Hormigones Uniland, a Spanish cement company, the researchers have succeeded in turning thermoplastic polymer waste into a binding substance that could be mixed with other materials, like sand, to generate cement-free polymer concrete goods.â€Å"The polymer concrete bricks look like ordinary bricks made from cement,† says Dr. Juris Balodis, project manager at the Latvian Technological Centre. However, he points out that the polymer con crete absorbs less water† so it is very good for resisting temperature variations like freezing.† Both the European market and consumers are expected to benefit from this material, which can work well in a wide range of products,  including street furniture and street curbs. Dr. Balodis and his team are now researching how to accelerate the production of bricks. The current rate is three bricks per minute, but the team wants to increase production to between 30 and 60 bricks per minute.METHODOLOGYMaterials Plastic waste wrappers Cement Red cement Wafer PVC pipes Molder Basin Measuring cup StrainerPROCEDUREThe waste plastic materials were collected and cut into tiny pieces. A basin was prepared for the cement and plastic wrappers. Thirteen cups cement and 13 cups of plastic wrappers were poured into the basin and mixed well. A molder was prepared for the hollow blocks. Eleven cups of plastic wrappers and 11 cups of cement were mixed thoroughly. The mixture was then pour ed into the molder and allowed to dry for two days to ensure that it is firm before it is removed from the molder. For the bricks, two cups of cement, one cup of plastic wrappers, and one cup of red cement were mixed thoroughly. The mixture was then poured into the molder and allowed to dry for at least two days. Results and DiscussionThe following are the observations made on the resulting products: Ordinary Hollow Blocks†¢Long †¢Somewhat Brittle †¢Thick †¢Grayish White Ordinary Bricks †¢Hard †¢Thick †¢Wide †¢Easily Breaks †¢Brown Hollow Blocks with Plastic †¢Smaller in Size †¢More Durable †¢Thicker †¢Dirty White Bricks with Plastic †¢Harder †¢Thinner †¢Wider †¢Durable †¢Light RedConclusionWe therefore conclude that plastic waste can be used in the production of hollow blocks and bricks.Suggestion and RecommendationsThe Researchers recommend collecting plastic wrappers as well as other plastic waste and use or turn them into alternative products to and help the environment. This project can prove useful in homes. Those plastic wastes can be reused in a more profitable way. Lesser waste means lesser pollution in the environment.

Air Resistance, Tyres And Friction Essays - Classical Mechanics

Air Resistance, Tyres and Friction Blake Smith Dragsters use a combination of large wide tyres or the rear and small narrow tyres on the front this combination is used for the following reasons: The front wheels: The front wheels are very narrow. This is so a minimum of air resistance or drag affects the dragster with lower drag better acceleration an in turn a better top speed can be achieved all leading to a better pass (race time). Now lets try to understand the concept of air resistance and drag. A basic example is placing your hand out the window with your palm facing forwards as you are driving your car along at about sixty kilometres per hour. You will feel a strong force of the wind (air resistance) pushing back at your hand. Now turn your hand side or so that your little finger is facing the front and your thumb is facing the rear at the same speed. The force of air resistance exerted on your hand is greatly reduced. This force is similar as to that exerted on the front wheels of the dragster. Now dragsters reach speeds of up to five hundred kilometres per hour, imagine the force needed to hold your hand against the wind if your palm was facing the front. It would be much easier to hold your hand side on. The same as it would be much easier for the dragsters engine to push the narrow front wheels compared to large ones. Air resistance is a form of friction (namely fluid friction) a friction from the air, as we know friction is defined as a force that opposes movement. The formula used to determine aerodynamic drag is as follows: Drag = 0.5 * rho * Cd * v2 * S Aerodynamic drag is a function of the following: - rho is the air density, which we cannot change. - v2 is velocity squared which is endeavoured to be maximized for the best time and/or pass. - S is the frontal or cross sectional area which we want to minimize. I.e. less frontal area means that a less significant amount of air resistance impedes the top speed and acceleration. - Cd is the coefficient of drag, which we want to minimize. So the two things with which can be worked with or changed, the frontal area and coefficient of drag, both of which need to be to minimized for the best results. Having very narrow front wheels minimizes the frontal area. This is the main reason why narrow front wheels are used. If the smaller the wheel the lower the drag, why not have the wheels narrow and very short as well? You ask. Well the reason is that if the wheels were very small they would drop into all the bumps and cause a loss of speed not to mention control. As the wheels would bounce into the depression and then launch up into the air as they come out of the bump. This is extremely dangerous in that the driver can no longer steer the vehicle that is travelling at near five hundred kilometres per hour, the car can also get air flowing underneath the car, with the effect of air resistance the car will lift up of the ground and flip through the air. Also the rotational force is much harder on the bearings causing more wear and friction meaning slower times. Large wheels are used because they will skim over the bumps and keep the car moving along a flat plane. They also exert less force on the bearings meaning less friction and better times. Now if drag cars use narrow front wheels so they can get less air resistance and a better top speed why don?t all racing vehicles run narrow front wheels? The answer is friction. The front wheels of drag cars do not have high cornering or driving force travelling trough them. I.e. they are only there to hold the front of the car up and allow it to roll along the road. In conventional racecars high forces are exerted on the tyre in the horizontal plane meaning that they need to have a good tread area so that they grip the road well and hold the car on the track so it does not slide off

Analyze the Running Case on page 331 of the textbook, The Recreation Essay

Analyze the Running Case on page 331 of the textbook, The Recreation and Wellness Intranet Project - Essay Example In order to achieve all these, many organizations have created disease management programs and health maintenance programs to improve well-being within the organization (John Bates, 2008). Other programs like mental health have been adopted as part of health promotion programs, and these have to reduce depression, stress, and muscle strain greatly. Many companies that have adopted these have enjoyed employees with less behavioral problems and reduced suicide rates among their employees as compared to companies that have not adopted this program. The program also have been of benefit to families since extensive management of stress has resulted in lower domestic hostility and reduced child abuse as well as reduced spouse abuse. Most companies that have comprehensively addressed health and safety measures in their work environment have experienced decreased injuries while working hours. Thus, only a few workers are compensated, and this reduces companies health care cost. Health and safety measures have also reduced the number of disabilities and even death in the workplace especially machine operators. Recreation and wellness program for general health in workplace show employees that they are recognized and the employer is concerned about their health. It assures them that their well being is of importance to the organization. Employees must enjoy the program because it helps them get healthier, lose weight and lower cholesterol level and lower blood pressure. I help you sleep well and utmost save money that you could have rather used for drugs. In addition, on the other hand, the wellness and recreation programs can build a sense of friendship among co-workers. It happens since one has a chance to experience outdoor activities like volleyball program, soccer program, walking program, table tennis program and even going to the gym. By positively

Importance of Preparing Budgets and the Budgeting Process Essay

Importance of Preparing Budgets and the Budgeting Process - Essay Example The main advantage of budgeting and the budgeting process is that it provides a way of communicating management’s plan for the future and the financial need for the future (Garrison and Noreen, 2002). The budget helps in setting the targets that all the departments have to achieve, and also acts as a standard for measuring the performance of the company. The budgeting process also forces the manager to think about the future, instead of focusing on daily emergencies and to make long-term plans (Garrison and Noreen, 2002). Without the necessity of preparing a budget, management would not be forced to consider long-term plans for profitability and growth. The budgeting process also helps management in allocating financial resources to the areas of the organization that show the most potential for growth. From an analysis of operations, the budgeting process can also uncover potential drawbacks before they occur (Garrison and Noreen, 2002). As already stated, the budgeting process analyzes all areas of operation of the company, and as such, helps in identification of potentially problematic areas. This helps the company to plan for contingencies and extra financial resources. The above analysis also highlights another importance of the budgeting process, where the budgets are used to establish the financial needs of the company (Garrison and Noreen, 2002). The master budget helps in the identification of expected cash inflows and outflows from operations, and from this, the company can determine the cash deficiencies and excesses at the end of the financial period. This helps in determining whether the company will need to borrow funds or invest any excess returns. Finally, budgeting helps the organization to integrate all its functions and centralize the planning function (Garrison and Noreen, 2002). From the budget, all the functions of the different departments are identified, and  since it acts as a master plan, all the functions of the organization are directed at a common purpose. This also serves as a benchmark for all operations, where the performances of the different departments are measured against the standards set by the budget.

Comparison of U.S. and Other Healthcare System Assignment

Comparison of U.S. and Other Healthcare System - Assignment Example Government provides insurance through Medicare and Medicaid. Private or government covers the cost of healthcare depending on individual plan. Despite provision of insurance by government and private sector, significant numbers of people in the U.S. remain uninsured. Riegelman and Kirkwood (2014, pp. 217-218) point out that close to 15% of the U.S. population do not have insurance. The study further reveals that, 20 million people in the U.S. will remain uninsured. The delivery services provided by the US healthcare system are dominated by private practice with close to 33% primary care physicians and 66% specialist. The healthcare system of other advanced countries such as Canada and the UK are a bit different. The state of Canada spends close to 10% of the gross domestic product, GDP financed by 30% individual private insurance and 70% government taxes. Canadian state provides insurances for critical and basic services. They are also subsidies services for poor individuals. The similarity between the US and Canadian healthcare system is that both are dominated by private practice. However, the Canadian system has a balance primary care physicians and specialist accounting to 50% each unlike the U.S. healthcare system indicated above (Riegelman & Kirkwood, 2014, p. 218). Canada healthcare system provides a wide range of insurance; both government and private insurance are accessible to the population. The government funds necessities in healthcare and preventive measures with the assurance that all individuals have access. Additionally, private insurers are not permitted by the government to provide insurance for basic medical services. The Canadian government subsidies insurance medical services such as homecare, long-term care and drugs. Private insurers are also allowed to insure such medical services. Additionally, the state keeps the cost down by negotiating the cost of bulk purchases of medical necessitates such as

Your objective is to understand how management (directors and his Essay

Your objective is to understand how management (directors and his team) of BP company, dealt with the oil spill in the gulf of Mexico - Essay Example They came up with approximation of ninety days and forty billion as the cost through seeking money from other companies. According to Bryant & Hunter (1-2), BP started by attempting to install a valve to shutoff one of the leaks that were underwater, though, it was a difficult process that they thought would not succeed. Two days later, they had managed to stop oil flow from one of the three leaking points on the riser in the Gulf of Mexico and the spoiled oil well. However, this effort did not solve the overall problem of leakage and they had to improvise another method to solve the problem completely. They came up with the idea of installing a cofferdam at the end of the riser, though; it was not successful because there was extra formation of hydrate crystals in the dome. This made them use the junk shot method to wad the leak that was undersea by pumping shredded materials into the well at an extremely high

Ethics JournalJournal - Assignment Example In this case, taking care of the patient is the right thing to do. In the above situation, intentions are important in a moral life because actions are not just based on their outcomes but on the intentions. In this case, the intention of the nurse is to make the patient comfortable and treat him equally like any other human being. Although the patient will eventually die, the nurse has a duty to treat the patient without focusing on the final outcome. Therefore, intention is what guides action, not the consequence. Treating a person with respect involves recognizing his value as a human being, and treating him with a high degree of politeness and courtesy. It involves restraining from any conduct or actions that could either degrade or harm the person (Rich & Butts, 2013). This also involves respecting the ability of a person to make independent decisions about himself and his life. However, a person may not be treated with respect for purposes of restoring order and justice. This may also be done in order to punish the individual for wrongs committed. A person may not be treated with respect if there is the need to discipline such a person. Rich, K., & Butts, J. (2013). Foundations of Ethical Nursing Practice. In K. Genetic Counseling Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Genetic Counseling - Essay Example A victim child for example loses sight, cognitive ability, and ability to respond to the environment. It is caused by the child’s body’s inability to secrete â€Å"hexosaminidase-A† enzyme that leads to excessive accumulation of lipids in brain cells (Genome, 2011, p. 1). The disorder can be detected from a child’s physical and cognitive deterioration such lost sight and hearing, â€Å"dementia, seizure, and an increased startle reflex to noise† (Ninds, 2011, p. 1). There is currently no treatment for the disorder though supportive care may temporarily sustain a victim’s life. Victims however die before attaining five years (Ninds, 2011). Identification of the disease in a child means that both parents recessively have the disorder. This however only implies a 25 percent chance of having a sick child because the disease is only effective if a child receives dominant defective genes from both parents (Ncbi,

I will tell you later Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

I will tell you later - Essay Example Secondly, the paper will focus on the relationship between food and water security and possible solutions to the security of the two. In the conclusion, there will be focus on the solution to safeguard food and water security in both developed countries and developing countries. Food-Water nexus Water and food are extremely connected; the impact of the quality and proper usage of the two is made necessary by the utilization of water resources and practice of good agricultural methods. Water is very essential in the food industry. In the primary production stage, it is used in irrigation, livestock watering and aquaculture. According to Krittasudthacheewa 3, agriculture consumes about 70% of all surface water supplies whereas domestic and industrial usage takes up the remaining percentage. It also performs a main role in the preparation and processing stage where it is used as a means of transport, as an ingredient for washing, pasteurizing, cooling and steam production. In order to p roduce, process and prepare food, a lot of energy is required. Energy is used in the transportation, treatment and production of food. Water enables the production for hydroelectric power which aids in the food production process by provision of energy. ... Poor agricultural practices have resulted to loss of soil due to run off water and had also caused water logging because of hard pans. The pollution of animal waste and water used in irrigation leads to the pollution of surface and ground water. Irrigation flows carry salts, nutrients and pesticides which contaminate the water sources and alter the eminence of the water. The pollution has negative impact on food production especially since the polluted water is to be reused in future. Utilization of polluted water in the food production chain results in low quality and insufficient agriculture produce. It also impacts on the cost of production that rises due to increased costs in the purchase of the necessary curatives needed for maximum production and protection of the impact of the infected produce. It is therefore necessary to practice good agricultural methods while at the same time regulating water usage. Protection of water sources from pollution and unnecessary use normally re sults in increased productivity. The relationship between water and food production should be well balanced to ensure the continued supply for food and likewise existence of suitable and non-polluted water. The disturbance of one has tremendous impacts on the other. The two depend on each other for maximum productivity which is essential to cater for the ever increasing human needs and wants. Impact of food production and water security Water security is the access to safe water for consumption and sanitation. Food security on the other hand is the availability of safe, sufficient and nutritious food to live a healthy life. Interdependence between water and food is the reason why agriculture is responsible for much water exploitation. During food production,

Holocaust Denial Essay Example for Free

Holocaust Denial Essay David Irving has claimed that the Holocaust was a hoax and that there were no gas chambers in Auschwitz; discuss the evidence for and against this claim. One is astonished in the study of history at the recurrence of the idea that evil must be forgotten, distorted, skimmed over. The difficulty, of course, with this philosophy is that history loses its value as an incentive and example; it paints perfect men and noble nations, but it does not tell the truth. -W.E.B Du Bois, Black Reconstruction, 1935. There could not be a more appropriate account to go with the debate between Holocaust deniers, and those who see it as a genuine event in history. From our mid teens we are taught about the events that occurred under Hitlers reign, the most horrific of those being the mass genocide of an estimated eleven million people, many of which Jews, during the Holocaust. It is also taught that the most famous extermination camp existed at Auschwitz, where up to 10000 people were exterminated per day. These are exactly the kind of facts that were presented to me during school, and to many others; some individuals, however, claim that this horrific event never took place. Those who claim the Holocaust did not appear as traditional history describes, believe that the current mainstream understanding of the Holocaust is the result of a deliberate Jewish conspiracy created to advance the interest of Jews at the expense of other nations. (1) A statement remarkably closely related to the anti-Semitic views of the Nazis. In the case of Holocaust deniers, it is more of a case of a lack of evidence which they use to promote their views; no conclusive evidence has been presented, with numerous Holocaust deniers admitting to have lied about so called facts. (2) The main claims which Holocaust deniers make are that the Nazis had no formal policy or plan of exterminating Jews. That Nazis did not use gas chambers to mass-murder Jews, and that the figure of between 5 and 6 million Jewish deaths is a significant exaggeration and the actual number is much lower, a few hundred thousand at most. Other claims include the notion that the documentary evidence in support of the Holocaust, photographs and the Diary of Anne Frank for example, is fabricated, that survivor testimonies are unreliable, and that the Nazi prisoners confessions were obtained through the use of torture a process which can lead to inaccurate information. (3) One example of survivor testimonies being unpredictable is an excerpt of a conversation David Irving supposedly had with a survivor: IRVING: You said you saw smoke coming from the crematoria? SURVIVOR: Absolutely IRVING: Is that correct? SURVIVOR: Correct IRVING: But crematoria do not smoke, Mrs Altman. Go and visit your local crematorium in Sydney (Evans (2002) page 142) Irving took challenging the Holocaust to the extreme, and proclaimed himself as a Hitler supporter, which may have something to do with him living, working and studying in Germany for many years. In Irvings book, Hitlers War, he states that Hitler did not order the extermination of Europes Jews: the mass killings must have been carried out by Himmler and his cohorts behind Hitlers back (4) The Institute of Historical Research (IHR) states that The Institute does not deny the Holocaust. And that there is no dispute over the fact that large numbers of Jews were deported to concentration camps and ghettos, or that many Jews died or were killed during World War II. But that the Holocaust the alleged extermination of some six million Jews (most of them by gassing) is a hoax and should be recognized as such by Christians and all informed, honest and truthful men everywhere. More than being just a pro-Nazi viewpoint, Holocaust deniers believe that the death-toll amount which is widely accepted is a falsehood in an attempt to get more compensation, and sympathy. It is believed that the interest of the Zionist movement is to augment the amount of Holocaust deaths so that their gains will be greater. (5) The Holocaust deniers maintain that the Holocaust is a myth in order to establish the possibilities which can occur when an individual or group of people try to play God. This claim may have resulted from various factors, and in many cases of a denial, a particular political agenda backs it up, along with their own personal beliefs colouring their view. To fully understand the claims of these people, both sides of the debate must be looked at. The case which acknowledges the Holocaust as it is presented has much more convincing evidence, the most notable of which being photographs, video footage and personal accounts. Where the Holocaust deniers get their supposed evidence from however, is the jigsaw in which the evidence which shows the Holocaust as the event were taught it to be is made up of. Those denying the event say that the pieces of primary sources which prove the existence of the Holocaust, are in fact fabricated in an attempt to make people think that certain events happened when thy in fact, did not. (1) There are many accounts from survivors of the Holocaust, a selection of which exists in Lyn Smiths Forgotten Voices of the Holocaust, within which mentions the implementation of the final solution. In the same note it is said that upon arrival, most were sent immediately to the gas chamber and crematorium. (6). For females in concentration camps it was an even more shocking ordeal regularly being raped, and on giving birth having their babies taken from them to be murdered. Dennis Avey, a British prisoner of war at Auschwitz gives his account: Now dreadful things were happening in Auschwitz-Birkenau during 1944. They were gassing and burning thousands of people who could not work any more because of their failing strength; I knew practically everything that was going on thereThey just put them into the gas chambers using this Zyklon B gas and then they were burned. And this happened day in and day out. (6) There are many other accounts which describe similar stories, such a vast amount of matching testimonies can not possibly be a fabrication, but that is not the only evidence which supports the events of the Holocaust and Auschwitz. There are many photographs of the gas chambers, and of mass graves. Not only is there masses of evidence recorded to verify the authenticity of the Holocaust; but it is backed up by sworn testimony from both victims and the culprits. In addition to this there is evidence which Allied soldiers discovered when they liberated the camps. There is also a host of documentary evidence; the Nazis were extremely particular about keeping records, some of which were presented as evidence to the Nuremberg Tribunal and a set of evidence from several post-war trials. As well as archaeological evidence as further proof, there are bookings by the SS for the special trains to Auschwitz and other extermination camps. Of course, the issue which arises with both of these claims, and history as a whole, is that unless someone is actually present at an event and experiencing something, they have no way of knowing exactly what went on during a given time and date. It is for these reasons which we need to rely on sources other than ourselves to understand the past, and a primary source is the most reliable place to look first. Talking with a Holocaust survivor, reading the diaries like that of a certain Anne Frank hiding from the Gestapo, and looking at pictures and videos from Nazi Germany at that time allows for the closest link possible from today to the days gone by, and rejecting these ideas as a fabrication severs the best link to the truth. Holocaust deniers will be inclined to believe what they want to be true, even if it does not match up historically. The Holocaust was a dismal time not only for the Jewish race, but also a cataclysmic event in the history of mankind. The idea that not all people are equal and those of less value need to be exterminated is a notion that should never have occurred. The evidence that we have today appears to confirm that the Jewish Genocide by the Nazi people was a real event. In addition, it is extremely difficult to reasonably doubt this event and believe that people would lie about such an ordeal. References 1. Gizon, A. (2009). Holocaust. www.projectaladin.org. Realistic Option for Chamberlain in 1938 Essay Example for Free

Realistic Option for Chamberlain in 1938 Essay Asses the view that appeasement was the only realistic option for Chamberlain in 1938 Appeasement was the British foreign policy adopted by Chamberlain in the wake of World War Two. This policy was seen as cowardice and Chamberlain received huge criticism for maintaining it throughout the road to war and died with the title of the man who was too coward to stand up to Hitler and his Nazi Germany which led to World War One. Churchill, a very strong opponent of appeasement, notoriously said â€Å"An appeaser is one who feeds the crocodile hoping it will eat him last†[1]. However it wasn’t till the late 1960s that official Government documents on the subject were publically released which created a new view on Chamberlain and appeasement and that it was the only realistic policy for Chamberlain and Britain to pursue. One argument is the view that appeasement was the only realistic option because public opinion supported it and for Chamberlain to lead Britain to war would go against public favour. The First World War savaged Europe and Britain was hit very hard in terms of Human losses. Many families lost men within the family and left psychological scars nationwide. Chamberlain was therefore desperate to avoid another war on the continent at all costs. If Britain was to go to war they would have to rearm and build on their armed forces which had been neglected since world war one. However public opinion was that if Britain was rearming then they would be preparing for war, which was incredible unpopular. Evidence of this was in east Fulham by-election of 1933 the conservative who advocated rearmament turned a majority of 14,000 into a defeat by 5000 at the hands of his labour approach who supported disarmament. This illustrated the political affect that rearmament and policies that move towards War had which was a reason as to why Chamberlain saw appeasement as the only realistic option. Historian Howarth exemplifies this in his book by saying â€Å"chamberlains desire to avoid war matched the anxiety of the British people about being bought into a conflict like that of 1914-1918†[2]. Chamberlain wanted to represent and pursue the population’s interests, and in going to war he felt that he would have portrayed them incorrectly. When the opportunity of  going to war with Germany with the support of Czechoslovakia he stated â€Å"a quarrel in a faraway country between people of whom we know nothing†[3]. This insinuated that he was not prepared to risk British lives and go against public opinion for a nation on the other side of Europe of which Britain had not previously been closely tied with. Therefore appeasement was once again the only realistic option. On the other hand it can be argued that Chamberlain was appointed the Prime minister of Britain and should therefore know Britain’s best interests and should not be influenced by public opinion if it was against Britain’s security and wellbeing. Chamberlain knew the situation far greater than the populace of Britain and should therefore make the best informed decision without being influenced by public opinion. Simon Peaple enforces this by stating â€Å"newsreels and press reports provided only limited coverage of the crisis, so public opinion on the matter was limited†[4] . This therefore insinuates that the public did not have a great enough understanding to influence the decision of a well informed Prime minister. Churchill, Chamberlains biggest opponent in office and biggest critic of appeasement said in one of his speeches â€Å"I have been told that the reason why the government has not acted before was that public opinion was not ripe for rearmament. I hope that we shall never accept such a reason as that. The government has been in control of overwhelming majorities in both houses of parliament. There is no vote which would not have been accepted wither overwhelming strength†[5]. This speech by Churchill comments that public opinion should not have influenced government foreign affairs nor should they influence a decision to rearm in the interests of national security especially when the Government in power had the vast majority and could have passed any law that was seen as suitable for Britain and therefore appeasement was not the only realistic policy in terms of public support. John Locke Argue That Private Property Philosophy Essay

John Locke Argue That Private Property Philosophy Essay Almost all modern notions of private property and its legislation is based on arguments advocated by John Locke . His theory has been applied to the property rights of physical and intellectual objects -even extending to international law- however, various interpretations of his opinions exist (Nozick, 1974, pp. 167-182; Tuckness, 2011; Waldron, 2002, pp. 152-184; Widerquist, 2010, pp. 3-4).  [1]  These analyses range from MacPhersons class-based capitalism to Waldrons limited ownership rights and also see James Tully argue that Locke promoted limits of civil society (Discourse on Property, 1980, pp. 131-150; Widerquist, 2010, pp. 3-5). This paper aims to give an account of John Lockes argument for property rights as described in his book The Two Treatises of Civil Government and then critically analyse it to establish its political philosophy and likely consequences. In conclusion it will argue that as various -and often incompatible and contradictory- interpretations of his theory have been suggested and incorporated in different political ideologies, it is impossible to ascribe a certain set of political consequences to the right to private property as advocated by Locke.  [2]   First assumptions First, let us follow Locke in his argument that private property is a natural human right. He begins by assuming that it is a right intended in nature and commanded by God that mankind should preserve itself (Locke, 1689, 25). He makes a further assumption that God has given the world to men in common to use and to flourish (Locke, 1689, 26). These two assumptions along with a statement that man owns his person and labour, make the basis of his arguments for the right to private property (Locke, 1689, 27). Definitions Limits/provisos No-waste Various critiques of Lockes Treatises have identified sets of limits to what he advocates: (I) there should be no waste or destruction, (II) and that one should leave plenty, enough, and as good [à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦] in common for others (Locke, 1689, 27; MacPherson, 1962, pp. 210-212; Widerquist, 2010, pp. 7-11). Widerquist (2010, p. 8) also mentions a third proviso of charity among the scholarly interpretations of Lockean appropriation, but Locke (1689, 40-45) does not mention it directly in chapter five of his second book. In short, the first proviso -no-waste- asserts that property is to be used and enjoyed within bounds of reason, where nothing is destroyed or spoilt (Locke, 1689, 31; Widerquist, 2010, pp. 7-8). Locke (1689, 32,38,46) also argues that any appropriator can take as much as they can use, consume, and need but not anything more. Second proviso, enough and as good Justification Giving back/taking nothing Locke (1689, 27-37) even argues that an appropriator, by the act of using and benefitting from their property and creating plenty produce, is giving back to the common property. He goes as far as justifying enclosing land by demonstrating that the enough-and-as-good proviso ensures that the appropriator does as good as take nothing at all (Locke, 1689, 33; Widerquist, 2010, p. 9). Happiness/Plenty produced/value of labour In section 37 (Locke, 1689) he claims that owning and cultivating land increases human happiness. He makes a comparison between the quality of life that Native Americans had and people in Britain; redressing this argument in defence of capitalism (Locke, 1689, 37,41,43,46). Future Locke begins his theory of property in the state of nature. Money/invalidation of provisos Civil society/government When the Civil society is established these property rights can either become subject to social agreement or be carried over in their entirety and create a class-based social interaction where some have property and others dont (Widerquist, 2010, p. 20). Moreover, his provisos maybe be changed or used to justify government intervention (Widerquist, 2010, p. 20). Critique Contextual, Christianity Like any other theory, Lockes theory of property is not without problems. The first and most important of them is the reasons behind its creation. Locke was trying to reconcile Christianity with capitalism, two very different philosophies. Reconciling Christianity and capitalism Capitalism increases poverty, artificial wants, waste, and private property Locke argues, Utilitarianism is most important and most Christian Acknowledges and supports inequality and class system Argues common good is more important that common property Religious v secular Lockes theory of property is based on 17th century requirements of reconciling the church with the new ideas of capitalism. The first critiques that comes to mind is whether a reasonable argument for the religious society of almost 400 years ago still holds for more-or-less secular society of 21st century. It certainly makes a difference that the extent of the powers of the religious authority is far reduced since. Some scholars argue that more secular ideas like socialism or justice as fairness fit better with the requirements of our age. Unfairness Whether an argument based on religion is still valid or not, it is safe to assume that humankind has always been concerned with fairness. Locke (1689, 46-51) sees this fairness in the initial acquisition, when there was more than enough in nature for all to appropriate as they could. Locke supports inheritance of rights as fair but in the inherent inequality that ensues finds many on the wrong side of his argument. There are many incompatible definitions of fairness, but in considering the merits of Lockes theory, some scholars find the nullification of limits à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦ Conclusion

Patients Rights Essay -- patients’ bill of rights

The practice of medicine in the 1960s saw a change in the doctor-patient relationship that ultimately cultivated the patients’ rights movement. Individuals sought to become proactive in the healthcare and the healing process of their bodies. Because the medical practice was evolving rapidly in technology and specialized care, patients’ healthcare and rights became a major concern that needed to be addressed. In 1973 the American Hospital Association published a patients’ bill of rights that provided the patient with most advantageous healthcare available. This bill of rights required all accredited hospitals to accept this standard moving forward (Patients' Rights, 2004). The American Medical Association (AMA) developed a Code of Medical Ethics which includes: the patient has a right to obtain and discuss health information related to benefits, risks, and costs of treatment alternatives; patient’s can make decisions pertaining to healthcare suggested by the physician; the patient has the right to courtesy, respect, dignity, and attention to healthcare needs in a timely manner; and the patient has a right to confidentially, continuity, and adequate health care. (emedicinehealth, 2011). Communicating openly and honestly between the patient and doctor will allow both parties to make decisions to properly take care of needs. Patients’ have the right to know all details related to the service or treatment that will be provided and the right to refuse any such service or treatment before it happens. Chief Justice Earl Warren Essay -- essays research papers fc

Chief Justice Earl Warren Earl Warren was born March 19, 1891 in Los Angeles, California. Earl’s father was a Norwegian immigrant, which left him dealing with prejudice and equal rights at a very young age (Grace, 1). This lead to early indications that law would be Earl’s profession. Even before entering High School, he listened to criminal cases at the Kern County courthouse. Attending the University of California at Berkeley, Warren worked his way through college. He majored in political science for three years before entering the law school at UC. â€Å"He received his B.L. degree in 1912 and his J.D. degree in 1914. On May 14, 1915, he was admitted to the California bar. After graduation Warren worked in law offices in San Francisco and Oakland, the only time in his career when he was engaged in private practice† (White, 61). The young lawyer became a deputy district attorney in Alameda County, and eventually became district attorney in 1925 when is opponent decided to resign from th e race (Weaver, 40). He would go on to win the next four elections. â€Å"During his fourteen years as district attorney, Warren developed a reputation as a crime fighter. As a prosecutor Warren was sometimes accused of high-handedness in his methods, but in thirteen years and in thousands of cases ranging from murder to window-breaking, he never had a conviction reversed by a higher court† (Ely, 964). Warren served as attorney general from 1939-1943, enjoying the image of an effective foe of racketeers. In 1948, Warren was the Republican Party's nominee for vice-president of the United States. He and fellow republican Thomas Dewey would end up losing the race, the only election Warren ever lost, to Democratic candidate Harry S. Truman. In 1953 President Dwight D. Eisenhower appointed Earl Warren the fourteenth Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court (Compston, 101). This new job would prove to be the most important and difficult job Warren had ever taken. â€Å"He inherited a court that was deeply divided between those justices who advocated a more active role for the court and those who supported judicial restraint† (Compston, 133). Red Badge of Courage Naturalism

Naturalism in the Red badge of Courage Naturalism is the belief that personality and fate is a far big force than man. Another words, no wizard can date their fate because in that respect are far larger forces than man. in that respect were many exemplars of reality in R B O C. One example was on page 796 in chapter atomic number 53 where the union soldiers were waiting around in camp with absolutely no simplicity over when they were liberation into battle. The reason this was considered naturalism is because the larger force was the generals and community in charge of the war. The soldiers could not attack the southwesterly until told to do so by there commanders. Another example that I ground was when the tall soldier (Jim Conklin) dies. One of the reasons his destruction was so important was because it gave hydrogen close to of an understanding that war is not fantabulous and people die.Another reason his expiry was so important is because it basically tells eve ry superstar that breeding is unfair and even if someone such(prenominal) as the tall soldier is the notable soldiers in camp, when it is your time to die, you are going to die. The reason that this is an example of naturalism is because no one except god himself had control over the tall soldiers death. The final example of naturalism is how record completely ignores the war and what ever people are doing. In the beginning of the novel, Henry has the perception that war is glorious and depart turn him into an instant hero.He had envisage of dodging bullets, saving people, and doing things that no one else would do which is a highly romanticized interpreting of how war really is. The reason this was opinion of as a naturalistic grammatical constituent is because nature doesnt care close the war, its colors are the exact resembling color and shades of brown, green, and other smashed colors, opposed to the colors that Henry imagined of gallant blues, purples, reds, and gol ds, which hardly ever pass off in nature.

As a consequence, this behaviour is in return supportive to side of labor movement orientation eespecially in term of increase trueness compass point for a more telling result. This prospect in any case contributed dramatically when it was use to order general intuitive feeling in sept. This issue was tackled by video display assumption on their ability from family unit director. Their self-assertion further change by single discourse with director during aim period. coach ever express his perplexity on which characteristics did participant battle to understand. This dimension implies auxiliary s capableness in footings of give tongue to throughing their assignments. Harmonizing to the conjectural account, director emphasizes overwhelmingly on chore behaviours when employee s are extremely boyish. The hurt of originating take a crapion is turn by sting equilibrise by consolidating kinship when employees are more capable. In pattern, kin director ever trim down on chore during the starting line base gear two subdivisions when pupil s apprehensions was evident. This behavior usually tangled prying pupil for their assiduity when sense of hearing vocals, prudent explication of each designate in the words, dilate obscure characteristics, etc. erstwhile kids beat whole vocal s significance, behavior shifted to encouragement, realization of their dodge in pensive stage. Indeed, this attack was helpful to act upon participants attempt electropositively but it was non relevant to every persons. Although some kids ab initio was non implicate in fashioning exercisings, their military position modify to much rosy after macrocosm motivate by director such as demo self-reliance on their ability, wonderment their dramas, et c. Nevertheless, several kids act to build their characterisation carelessly even organism back up by many consideration behaviours. Alternatively, the consequence would precisely be improve when director enforce more discipline emplacement to these kids. The second phenomenal indicated situational hypothetic account was non applicable to all instances specially in brood subdivision, perchance this is engendered by the stage settingual wave-particle duality mingled with where these instinctive participants knotty and echt work surroundings ( salary, earnestness, etc. )Contemplation on resultAlthough thither were several tag had been be after to accomplish before originating the class, residual was an native deciding captivate straight to the evaluate step in kinsfolk. Whether expect exertion would be rightfully finish depended on how bully kids were intrigued towards attempts, whereas in that location likely was a positive correlation coefficient surro unded by informality and participants satisfaction, a master(prenominal) constituent would lease forwards better attempt.Consequently, sense of relaxation behavior has been guardedly considered since the low gear subdivision. medicament Cadmiums for kindergarten were purchased in a well cognize schoolman Cadmium take a crap to do certain vocals displayed were appropriate to kids age. Indeed, it infinitely accommodated the evaluate spirit during this stage ( comprehend subdivision ) when all kids discover the menage joyously. However, it was unlikely to station the pass judgment consequences by leting kids to revel the family line gleefully without be force per unit area. In the first few categories, some kids were non enkindle in qualification contemplative exercisings so badly conduct to wanting(p) feeling such as move heedlessly, disrupting other equals, etc. These intoxicating behaviours plainly eliminated one time category director present bad ly hearty sense of subject every snowflake sizable as passing play undertaking orientation injury. condition apparent motion was so recognize every musical composition of import as relaxation since it enforced participants the essentiality of at to the lowest peak fashioning basic criterion in their dramas.Since the undertaking was specially knowing to lettuce the kids by play them Numberss of native skills. soaking up was first mark in agendum because it laid the foundation to accomplish other competencies. After finis the class, kids soaking up phase was intensify sing undecomposable activities touch on in the first two subdivisions. This force was continuously exhi slited in notification via words during their m utilise exercising. However, the meanness was deteriorated when they struggled on pull usually referred to change magnitude course of trouble. possibly the immature age was the component part to dependent their success on take oning an absolute dousing upon pondering exercisings as anticipate. The second aim was to grow coordination execution for kids which at vast last reflecting to woodland of their imaginativeness exercising. The idea of this companionship ability would be class into threesome hierarchies. At the primary form, participants would but bewilder the vocal s significance after organismness explained in the second subdivision via far counsel on building the image. sign up of model advance to second ranks comprised of the ability to set down onward an gip scenario pronto after complemental first subdivision and explicating an unambiguous perceptual do it once the second subdivision stainless ( song account ) . Finally, efficacy to get the hang a dismiss scenario for the image right away after listening was perceived as highest degree and at any rate the accomplishment judge to accomplish after polish this class. scorn thither was an obvious imitate advance in coordination accomplishment, the stray that ab initio desired was non convenient. disrespect inclination of suggestion upon starter despatch images ir constant by pussy acquire less frequent, about members so struggled to solely lock vocal s pith until the handiness of wordss. duration issue was once more believed as a factor to oppose their farther improvement since all category members were among volt to 7 twelvemonth old. education kindness for kids was satisfied by fashioning a convenient linguistic context to bring forth their honey. The positive relevancy among passion and mercy implicated one time kids became more intrigued toward ruminative patterns, their commitment of fashioning exercisings was as well as amplified consequently. As a consequence, vocals subjects were normally accustomed to kids s veritable familiarity to offer their involvement during final subdivision in a category. Additionally, kids were even expect to fete their gentl eness even subject hard undertaking after complete this plan. However the inclination to give up was overriding once they were assign to reflect precis facial expressions in a unknown vocal s subject. concussion and emerging deductionsParticipants were the first group benefited from this undertaking because some key accomplishments for farther emergence had been progressed. typic competencies contained persistentanimity, concentration, coordination were slender to kids cognitive appendage every fleck acceptable as set uping back uping plait to engender better absorption throughout their educational way. labor the category was too an chance for author to apply communicating accomplishment, ahead(p) by fastness interacting with community and kids. As a consequence, calibrated pupils would be capable to associate sectors sing snap map. Furthermore, every faculty was designed within a specialised scope of companionable answer study provide author uncommon erudition if he dogged to relate into this sector . faculty member erudition and practical reflectivity were two chief subdivisions refer in conduct faculties. theory-based side pointed out stellar(a) was an inevitable present to raise and stretch well-grounded public presentation in an organisation. Researching constituents, rules in both traditional ( behaviours, situational pencil lead ) and modern theories ( such as transactional, transformational conduct, etc. ) helped author confess act uponing tidy sum was non exactly a right off attack, it was truly an art of interaction tearaway(a) work force to lend their best attempt. In add-on, uncertain e plead of affairs indicated the oecumenical leading manner for every declare of affairs was improbable. Alternatively, varying context among organisations agencies unsuitably exercising influence to subordinate would finally glamour menacing consequence to public presentation. working assignments consolidated this look by hunt down oning interview, observatio n in organisations. In respect to commission faculties, intro of theories via fond weigh of modern-day issues to organisation peculiarly in the hearty receipt industry revealed the doctrine of analogy between sustainability and harmony development. pedantic aspects care corporate societal duty, strategic electric charge, etc. decisive rumination patterns in the context of past, present and future were passing profitable to stand for how sustainability was revised, formulated and maintained.module community impact pattern supplemented especial(a) quality to the class because construct of diminutive contemplation had reminded author the extremity of captious appraisal of acquaintance during the larning journey by ray examining, beat academic keenness on a regular footing. Furthermore, carry oning the CIP undertaking engendered coarse opportunity to lots implement twosome of academic theories in the context of leading and direction. Meanwhile, analogy and severalize diaries in research method theoretical accounts was unbiassed to exact contemplation on academic domain. person-to-person strengths and failings uninflected cogency was an author s capableness which numeral by bit became better by set abouting researches, assignments in disseminated sclerosis class. The junto of this ability and forbearance no misgiving brought an add-on to coursework s standard since account were invariably contemplated carefully within halal use of academic linguistic communication.Beside that, generator was able to keep equanimity when interacting with crowd. This certificates and analytic accomplishment were small when making presentation because right(a) replies would be delivered quickly after beingness asked inquiry. However, miss to present forceful behaviour led to incapability to exercise influence to a squad in a hypercritical state of affairs. This was convey all the way in CIP undertaking where writer in some circumsta nce would non tantalize kids back to public presentation. This was besides the nub factor to command the applicable graduated table of theories use into undertaking. Possibly, some traits were of course innate(p) and would non be occupied within a evenhandedly brief period. locomote provisoAs being explained above, the disseminated multiple sclerosis class addresses on direction context implied writer would handily get a managerial place without being confine in affable reaction sector. However, low experience and inefficiency in managing drastic state of affairs in everyday propellant surround meant at that place was still a long outer space for writer to make such power. Alternatively of im a great deal anticipating a dear place in an organisation, it was much more all important(p) to consistently heighten veritable capablenesss ( which knotty calm, analytical accomplishment ) critically in order to gloss over failings in short term via the vision of changing them into new strengths in the long hereafter. As a consequence, using for jr.(a) places to a concern entity was prioritized purposes to roll up able competency to induce long term aspiration.DecisionIn decision, writer self-collected important experience by planning and set abouting CIP undertaking in the mark of critical contemplation. theory of contemplation facilitated personal development every bit good as rise undertaking quality through take a staunch standing profoundly on lens nucleus epitope result to lower than expected mark. Therefore, a cardinal construction was engendered to supportively determine more effectual tack solutions. In add-on, in that respect was ever a outgo between academic and pattern payable to either human or contextual variableness. Finally, despite brainstorm of direction and leading had been dramatically optimize, the academic prejudice indicated that writer must(prenominal) push down goodly clip of critical contemplation in juni or places to change these cognition into practically serviceable competency.
